Part of my college assignment is to spend at least 30 minutes alone with God, worshiping, praying, and listening.

I am so very grateful for this portion of the homework. I worshiped through a series of Kari Jobe videos from youtube. She is an amazing worship leader and has a beautiful voice. I found myself convicted, humbled, and in tears. The depth of His love for a person like me, is something I do not understand, but am so very grateful for. I went to Biblegateway.com and had the program read me Luke chapter 14. The text for my sermon comes from the last 1/3 of this chapter. The middle text stood out the most. It is the parable of the Great Banquet where those who were invited made excuses of why they could not come. Then comes the text about the cost of being a disciple. I need to stop making excuses and set my eyes on that which is Holy. I then need to be prepared to offer this message to those in my congregation. We all can have a tendency to be professional excuse makers and God doesn’t listen to excuses, He listens to a repented heart and a heart that seeks His Holiness.
