The Orphan

Orphan is used six times in the Bible.

Fatherless is used 39 times in the Bible.

The original Greek word for both orphan and fatherless is Yathowm which means- an orphan, fatherless.

Orphan is used just twice in the New Testament and we do not see the word fatherless used at all. This working out of the New International Version.

I find it extremely interesting when we isolate the two scriptures, John tells us that Christ will not leave us as orphans and James tasks us to look after the orphans, there by emulating Christ.

John 14:18
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Reading the introductions to both books we learn that James was actual written prior to John. James was writing to tell appropriate Christian behavior. John wrote to help new believers and those seeking the face of Christ. Just because one was written before the other does not change the fact of Who we must strive to resemble, for it is the children of God that Christ lives through till His coming.

It entails sacrifice, heart break, and loving to a point of tears, at which He will reveal a joy and a peace through your purpose He has laid out for you.

Matthew 25:40
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Though the above scripture is just a snippet of the large portion, it speaks to judgment.

Fear the Lord by sharing the love He shares with us, with others.

The two greatest commandments:

Matthew 22:37-40 (New International Version)
37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

My friends, “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

There is no greater gift than the gift of love.

Julian, you are loved by One far great than I.
