The Holy Spirit is the breath of God as in Genesis 1:2. The Holy Spirit is the essence of God and is described as the truth in scriptures John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13; 1 John 5:6. The Holy Spirit is that which guides us when our hearts are truly ready to follow Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our wrongs, encourages us during our weakness, and guides us on our journey to Christ likeness.
The Holy Spirit works in accordance of the will of God, as the Holy Spirit is of God, John 15:26. With the Holy Spirit and the Trinity, we get a Three for One Special. God has created us, given us the ultimate sacrifice and example to live by, and has provided us a life partner to help guide us through life.
Sanctification begins when we admit our brokenness and accept Christ as our Savior; that His death on the cross was sufficient for us to approach God. The expressive act of baptism by water tells those around us the decision we have made and that we are a Christ follower. Sometime thereafter, the Holy Spirit baptizes us. The Holy Spirit is then our guide to becoming holy and Christ like. I have read somewhere about the circumcision and that it really is meant to be a circumcision of the heart; a separating of ourselves from this world and the sin within it. The Holy Spirit is a main part of our transformation from being worldly to becoming holy.
